Nicola started his emulator-project MAME late in 1996 with a few single game emulators which he assembled to his masterpiece MAME in February 1997. From the very first beginning the source-code was released to the public, so more then 100 talented people were able to contribute to the MAME-project. Under these circumstances the MAME team was able to create a milestone in emulation.
Most of the supported games are emulated perfectly regarding playability, sound, accurate colors and the dream of every arcadegame-player: highscore-saving. A new version of MAME is released at least once a month with fixes for already supported games and with new games added to the emulator!
