Sixtoe updated the Arcade Game Museum with lots of new additions!

Roman Scherzer released ClrMAME Pro v2.66 with these new features:

  • - added: scanner->optional md5 check for roms
  • - misc: additional md5 work on parser, export datfile routines, dir2dat, setinfo window
  • - added: scanner->"save logfile automatically" option
  • - misc: scanner->save miss/have-list can now be done separately.

Sad news: The Arcade Game Collector's Archive closed today due to massive leeching of the files. :(

Appearantly there is an X-Box port of MAME now available. I hope to test it soon and let you know more about it.

The Guru got another batch of arcade boards to dump and is looking or a Hyper Neogeo 64 motherboard.

ElSemi released Nebula v2.17 with a lot of bugfixes:

PGM:

  • Improved sound emulation: Volume should be correct (or almost) now. Note pitch improved.
  • Fixed missing background in a KOV stage.
  • Added an option to capture the current music to a file to load it in jukebox (PZM files).
  • Calendar is disabled when netplay or recording movies. This will (should :)) avoid desyncs.
CPS2:
  • Fixed some finish specials being wrong in the bottom of Manhattan stage in mshvsf.
CPS1:
  • Fixed missing helicopters and buildings in cawing.
NEOGEO:
  • Fixed (again) sengoku3 decrypted driver.
  • Fixed Irritating Maze controls. You can use the mouse to move the rod (this game cabinet has a trackball).
  • Fixed missing 2 lines at the bottom of the screen of games using rasters (most noticeable in mslug2, galaxyf, mosyougi)
GENERAL:
  • Added some language translations (Italian, Korean, Chinese, Dutch)
  • Fixed 50% scanlines at 640x480
  • Added a "Step Frame" button to the shot factories (window mode)
  • Added some Force Feedback tables by Iron Man.
  • Added a small skin option to the windowed GUI.

ElSemi released Nebula v2.16 with these new features:

  • PGM: Z80 is fully emulated, that means, correct sounds and music in games. The sound chip emulation is not 100% accurate so some notes in music are wrong.
  • PGM: Fixed savestates in KOV games.
  • PGM: Fixed text layer position being wrong by 1 line.
  • PGM: Added shot factory (F8)
  • CPS2: Fixed a palette sync problem that caused part of the charlie stage in sfa2 flash out of sync.
  • CPS2: Scanlines in 640x480 are now correct (again). Use No stretch go get them correctly.
  • NEOGEO: Fixed sengoku3 decrypted driver.
  • GENERAL: Added language switch for the menus

Roman Scherzer released ClrMAME Pro v2.65 with these new features:

  • added: Set-Information window (Scan-Results->?) This window gives you a little set overview with a rom/sample list, some information about problem-roms, etc. Guess more options will be added to that new window in the future
  • misc: Scanner -> "missing (but fixable) rom" display now also shows where the rom can be found.
  • misc: Rebuilder -> added "separate bios roms" option
  • misc: Rebuilder -> Destination (if empty & used) is set to the 1st rompath
  • misc: URL updated & some source cleanup

  • PGM: Fixed Knights of valour missing platform and bridges in some stages.
  • PGM: Some rom renamings. To match mame names
  • PGM: Fixed china and taiwan regions swapped in KOV
  • NEOGEO: Fixed savage reign V2 rom CRC
  • NEOGEO: Added Sengoku3 and Zupapa neogeo drivers.
  • GENERAL: PGM resolution is very wide, so if it's cut in the screen, play a bit with stretch options till you can get it fitting.

  • PGM: Added Sound emulation. Well, it's not complete emulation, but it's enough go get sounds working. Only SFX works and some sounds may be wrong.
  • PGM: Added region switch to orlegend and kov
  • PGM: Fixed orlegend crashes.
  • GENERAL: Fixed netplay crashing with Konami and PGM games.

ElSemi released Nebula v2.14b which fixes:

  • CPS1: Fixed wrong layer offsets in sf2yyc and kouryu (=blackbelt? ) that appeared due to the new timing.
  • CPS1: Fixed Quiz and Dragons USA gfx problems
  • CPS1: Fixed sound problems in ADPCM audio
  • GENERAL: Fixed Nebula hanging in a window when exiting a game in the classic GUI.
  • GENERAL: Fixed the Video menu crash if there are no transparency tables in the CONFIG folder.

  • CPS1: Fixed loops in some drivers (cworld2j, qad and qtono2) that were causing the rom scanning crash
  • CPS1: Fixed high music speed in sf2 and captcomm

  • PGM: Fixed the memory corruption bug in orlegend (aka infinite lives bug)
  • PGM: Fixed zooming (it was reversed, making zoom effect backwards :) )
  • PGM: Fixed screen cut with some blitters.
  • CPS2: Re-adjusted timing again, now some games are smoother (especially ssf2t)
  • GENERAL: Added Force feedback support, using tables.

  • NEOGEO: Fixed Spinmasters gfx errors on the bottom lines (raster bug)
  • CPS1: Added SF2 KouRyu driver
  • CPS2: Improved CPU timing. That makes SSF2T/SSF2X smoother.
  • CPS2: Fixed SSF2X driver (no more gfx or sound problems)
  • PGM: Fixed crashing after a few minutes playing.
  • GENERAL: Added SuperScale blitter
  • GENERAL: Added auto-transparencies.
  • GENERAL: Fixed full interpolation mode.

Appearantly somebody took the FinalBurn source code and added force-feedback support to Out Run. I couldn't test it yet, so please feel free to send me your comments on this.

Some nice MAME WIP news were posted today and yesterday.

ElSemi released Nebula v2.13 with these new additions:

  • NEOGEO: Improved raster effects emulation.
  • CPS2: Added latest CPS2Shock releases
  • CPS2: Fixed wrong layer prios on nwarr character selection screen.
  • KONAMI & CPS1: Fixed music speed that was wrong in some games.
  • PGM: Optimized sprite drawing (more than twice faster now in some critical parts)
  • PGM: Fixed sprite shrinking
  • PGM: Added sprite zooming
  • PGM: Added linescroll (orlegend stage 4 and 6)
  • PGM: Fixed some missing sprites (clipping problems)
  • PGM: Main CPU is running at the correct speed now
  • GENERAL: Added DSP plugins support
  • GENERAL: Force feedback support is disabled as I'm improving it (and it's still not finished :( )

Dave released Final Burn v0.517 which fixes a bug introduced by v0.516.

The MAME32 Team released MAME32 v0.60.1! Thanks to the MAME32 Q&A page for the notice and for the additional icon, screenshot and cabinet packs to go with it!

In case you didn't noice this yet but MAME v0.60 now also supports the SlikStik and the X-Arcade joystick in addition to the HotRod! Take a look at the ctrlr.txt file in the /docs subdirectory for more information!

smf released Redump v3.7 which converts mgd2 dumps to the mvs format and adds support to "alpham2"! Apologies to smf for not posting this file earlier (like 6 months ago)!

Nicola Salmoria and the MAME team release MAME v0.60! It features lots of new features and drivers and the fixfile with fixes for way to much games is ready as well!

MHz released Kawaks v1.43 with these new features:

  • New drivers: Bang Bead, Night Warriors: Darkstalkers Revenge (US 950406), Vampire Hunter: Darkstalkers Revenge (Japan 950316), Vampire Hunter: Darkstalkers Revenge (Japan 950302), Dungeons and Dragons: Tower of Doom (Hispanic 940125)
  • New "KScale" blitter. This is a new edge enhancement blitter with zero blur. It's also insanely fast compared to the traditionnal 2xSai/Super2xSai/SuperEagle.
  • Shiny new "Smart Interframe blending" (MMX and non MMX versions) This new blending mode replaces all flickers (Samurai Shodown 4 life bars, KOF shadows ...) by transparencies; and the rest of the picture retains all its sharpness (no blurry scrollings)
  • Made it so interframeblending occurs before the video processing stage (speed boost and avoids blitter interferences)
  • New keyboard shortcut : Alt+B toggles between Interblending modes
  • New sound option : Low pass filter
  • Fixed ShumaGorath's Chaos dimension in Marvel Super Heroes
  • Rewrote Kaillera support. Now, emu will accept to run if you don't have Kailleraclient.dll, and noone should see Kaillera errors on startup anymore.
  • Sound logging option now saves a WAV, not a RAW
  • Ctrl Numpad + and Ctrl Numpad - now control volume
  • Fixed Cheater support
  • Minor changes to Batcirc & Csclub to accommodate the latest CPS2 conventions
  • Changed driver for NeoPong to use NeoPong 1.1 roms instead

CPS2Shock released 4 new xor-files!

Dave released Final Burn v0.515 which has these new features:

  • Added a bit of road emulation to Thunderblade, but it's unfinished and doesn't work in After Burner yet.
  • Added Royal Ascot 2 driver. Note it doesn't get past the memory test, and it's not really a playable game anyway (it's a gambling game thing).
  • Switched DDSOM to European (parent) set
  • Fixed road palette on Out Run (e.g. stage 2B)
  • Simplified After Burner hardware cpu emulation slightly.

Dave released Final Burn v0.514 with these new additions:

  • Improved Galaxy Force hardware cpu emulation slightly. Power Drift sprites glitches reduced.
  • Added a general cpu 'sleep' algorithm which increases the frame rate of Rail Chase a little bit.
  • Strike Fighter cockpit (line sprites) has disappeared (?!) no idea why.
  • Changed keyboard support so it doesn't require DirectX 5 to run, only normal function calls.
  • Added .DAT file export to the system menu

  • misc: lots of minor source changes (md5, wordparser, cachefiles + set-structures....)
  • misc: partially added diskimage support (check options are currently disabled)
  • misc: rebuilder warning when no addpaths are available & 'use addpaths' is used
  • misc: rom/samplenames with \ or / will be parsed correctly. This isn't the subfolder support yet...but a start :P
  • misc: zipped-dat-selector also accepts double-clicks to add the file
  • misc: updates to several "0-crcs" stuff: changeable textcolor, new message, new icon, fixed show-missing-0crc toggle

ElSemi released Nebula v2.12 with these new features:

  • PGM: Added PGM system emulation. Only Oriental Legend is supported, because PGM games have protection chips that is different in all games. Take note that this is the first version, and may be some gfx glitches (mainly zoom related). Also note that there is no sound emulation yet.
  • CPS1: Fixed sprites disappearing.
  • Fixed Scanlines when using 640x480.
  • Fixed all drivers rom names and CRCs to match MAME (Thanks to Logiqx).
  • Added plugin support for blitters (directory PLUGINS) see the included plugsrc.zip for some plugins sample src.

  • tekken 2 geometry fix (BIG HUGE THANKS to calb from ePSXe for this fix!)
  • removed dynachicken tuning switches, nobody could understand them and everyone managed to piss away all their performance with them so we now use hardcoded values that run all games quickly without crashing
  • crc32 checking added for ROMs. incorrect/hacked ROMs will no longer be allowed to load
  • psychic force sample rom renamed to match reality
  • input mini-SDK included with instructions on how to write a controller plugin
  • default keys remapped a bit for tekken/soul edge. to remap them further write a plugin or wait for someone else to
  • new OpenGL and Direct3D renderers from Pete Bernert with Tekken/Tekken 2 texture fixes (same as in GLIDE 1.1 by Lewpy) and resolution X/Y autoswap for rotated games

Right now only the Windows version is available but the Linux port should be released soon!

Logiqx released Zipident v1.0, a useful tool to check directories for already emulated romsets!

Roman Scherzer released ClrMAME Pro v2.60 with these new features:

  • main thing: rebuilder option "recompress". If NOT enabled it copies the files without any unzip/zip operation (...damn fast... :O))
  • added: romlist warning: illegal crc (1 / -1), can be optionally changed to 0.
  • added: romlist warning: not mergeable set, relationship can be optionally removed
  • misc: some gui and text changes
  • misc: Profiler automatically detects updated datfiles now.
  • misc: changed several old romlist warnings
  • misc: compiled with new zlib class release
  • misc: changed windowtitle a bit (to avoid some restart problems)
  • misc: rebuilder-progressdialog filenametext is cleared now when you do another rebuild.
  • misc: missing roms which can be fixed are shown as "missing (but fixable) rom"
  • fixed: Rebuilder skipped all files after it skipped a file-in-use one.
  • fixed: some "&" characters were lost in several menus and dialogs
