  Friday, 19. October 2001

The MAME WIP Page was updated with the development news from the last 7 days! Link fixed thanks to Bryan Kruzynski!

Emmanuel Anne released Raine v0.34 and these are the new additions:

  • Added new game : Sailor Moon.
  • Added new clones : Gunbird korean version, Donpachi korean version, Sailor Moon original version, and battle garrega chinese version. All these clones are not just international versions : the software is really different.
  • Added dynamic graphics list modes for most graphics drivers : vga, modex, vesa (1 to 3), svgalib, fbcon, dga2, directx (all fullscreen drivers). This give you every available mode in the Screen Setup dialog when you change the depth or the scanlines. This also select for you the best video mode available keeping your options (scanlines, pixel double...) for every game you load.
  • Fixed music tempo and sound effects in psykio games (gunbird, sengoku ace, and battle k road).
  • Made the music acceleration in toaplan2 games optional (Set fast_tp2_sound to 0 in raine.cfg if you don't like it)
  • Added a cache for solid sprite to get a 20-30% increase in speed for mazinger and most toaplan2 games (batrider...).
  • Added speed hacks to every cave games : a little faster on slow machines, and animations smoother on fast machines !
  • New palette update function for 8bpp modes for Windows 9x fullscreen modes, and linux fbcon. This function reduces the cpu time for palette update to 0% !
  • Fixed a last bug in hiscores (hopefully !) : when loading a 2nd game in the gui, the hiscores of the 2nd game were erased !!!
  • Added region codes to drtopel.

  • Super Don Quix-ote should now be totally playable (woohoo!)
  • Changed sound code so samples are only loaded if they are needed by the current game
  • Fixed small memory leak in VLDP when parsing new video
  • Caused VLDP to clear 'parsing status' line so you no longer see it when changing video files
  • Input can now be remapped (2 keys can be assigned to each input)
  • Default keys correspond more fully to MAME
  • Hotrod joystick support added
  • Samples added for Astron Belt, Galaxy Ranger, and Cobra Command
  • Added better Super Don samples
  • Improved PR-8210 interpreter so it translates commands based on elapsed CPU cycles
  • In Windows, Space Ace will use the keyboard LED lights to indicate the current skill level. Settings will be restored once DAPHNE exits.
  • DAPHNE can now run at any requested resolution from 640x480 and up
  • Flickering video overlay fixed for Astron Belt, Galaxy Ranger, and Cobra Command
  • Initial support for Firefox begun (not playable)
  • LD-V1000 strobe timing implemented for Dragon's Lair and Space Ace (more accurate scene lengths)
  • Almost all timers in DAPHNE (including IRQ, NMI, and current frame) now are based on elapsed CPU cycles rather than elapsed time. This fixes a ton of problems, mostly with Super Don Quixote.
  • Mpeg parsing speed has been significantly improved
  • Added a "-cheat" option to the command line. So far, it is only useful with Cliff Hanger (which does not include a dip switch setting for unlimited lives).
  • LD-V1000 "get current frame" and skipping functions improved to be more accurate
  • Added PR-8210 audio channel commands
  • Improved VLDP so you can now mix video files that are of different framerates and encoding types

  • Improved .DAT file format (all video will have to be reparsed, sorry! hehe)

Updates will be slower today, I just turned 30. :o)
